Granada Reports comes to GEARS+ |
|
On 4 March 2009 GEARS+ welcomed Granada Reports and Amanda Peak to one of their Road Safety Sessions. The sessions are based around the "WRECKED" DVD that has been produced by the Greater Manchester Road Safety Partnership to help raise awarenes amongst young people of the dangers that are inhernet in driving and how easily accidents can occur.
Amanda and the crew spent about two hours with a group of students from Pendleton College, she talked about the tragic loss of her two sons and the impact that it has had on her life, that of her family and the family of the passengers who survived the crash. She is now campaigning to reduce the permitted levels of alcohol. The students responded well to her talk and asked lots of questions, some were interviewed by Ashley Derricott from Granada Reports and the piece was broadcast on Wednesday 11 March. In addition to her campaigning and awareness raising Amanda is training to run in the Edinburgh Marathon later this year.
