Committed to helping young people achieve
Summer 2008

AnniversaryThe summer started with a celebration of the 1st Anniversary of GEARS+ as a social enterprise. This was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Salford Councillor Roger Lightup and Patrons Jamie Lomas and Anthony Quinlan both Salford born actors who are really keen to put something back into the community. It was a fantastic day and for once it didn't rain.

Unable to attend the event were Support Worker Mark Isherwood and Volunteer Paul Beckett, they were taking part in the Tall Ships Race from Liverpool to Maloy in Norway as part of their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

summer activitiesThis was followed by two weeks of activities that were attended by young people from across the city. They learned workshop skills, went karting, climbing, mountain biking and lots more. The two weeks were led by Dave Eccleston from GEARS+ and Lee McKay from Social Services who are experts at encouraging young people to try new things.
