Partners rise to the challenge |
|
On Sunday 13 July 2008 GEARS+ and OLIVERS YOUTH CLUB are working together as Salford Young Peoples Pedal Power, to take part in the annual Manchester to Blackpool Cycle Race – raising money for the Christie Hospital.
This is the first partnership venture of this kind and it is hoped that there will be many more. The organisation and training of the participants has been undertaken by Graham Cooper from Oliver’s Youth Club and the administration and technical support has been left to GEARS+ led by Martyn Smethurst and Haley Lever. Additional support for the venture has been provided by Lee Turnbull of Child Action Northwest. It will be a long and challenging day starting with breakfast at GEARS+ before going into Manchester for the start of the ride. All the team will be sporting T shirts that Graham has organised. It should be a fantastic day and hopefully raise lots of money for Christies.
